The CW has ordered a drama pilot based on a series of vampire novels for teens "The Vampire Diaries" which were published by Alloy, the same company that brought Gossip Girl into the world.
The Vampire Diaries novels focus on a mortal named Elena, who was the girl who could have any boy she wanted until she met two vampire brothers. One brother, Stefan, is described as "brooding and mysterious" and capable of resisting Elena's charms, while Damon is dangerous, driven by a desire for revenge, and "would kill" to have Elena.
I'd have to read this, that is before CW makes it into one of the most talked about series.
Hello Twilight fans! What do you think about the rumor that has been going around that High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens will star in the Twilight sequel New Moon
Vanessa will play the role of Leah Clearwater - a Quileute, a native American and a female wereworlf at that. If rumors are true then she will have to play it alongside Taylor Lautner in the werewolf pack. If it's true, then lucky her!
Saturday after lunch, Kiara insisted we watch Twilight despite the blurry theater we have in SM Iloilo. This is my second time watching the movie. I watched it when it first premiered here in the Philippines and when people asked how it was, I'd often respond that certain scenes were cut from the book making me nearly impossible to please.
Although Twilight's debut on the big screen was a smash success, earning $70.6 million over the weekend and breaking several records. It has the honor of being the biggest debut ever "for a female director and also beats the $57 million debut of Sex and the City in May." I know there's a big weight on the director's shoulder especially for a book who has a large and passionate fan base. But I'm really not that happy with how the movie turned out. I would have to say that I still loved the book, it gave me freedom to imagine how things are and not forced to see how other perceived it.
The sparkling part in the meadow? I think my imagination works better than Hollywood special effects. The "blonde" effect on Rosalie and Carlisle was horrible! I'm not convinced that Carlisle looked like a professional model, and Rosalie as the most beautiful creature on earth with that friggin' hair.
Later that night I caught up with my friend Ace, she hadn't read the book yet, but she was pleased with the movie. Maybe I wasn't as giddy as those who haven't read the book because I was expecting a little more. So for a review on the film, I would say I that my opinion is the bit least dependable because I'm biased. I still loved how it was written. It made me giggle, cry and sigh like a high school girl.
I felt like short changed after watching it the second time. If it weren't for my daughter I wouldn't have stepped into the theater to watch it again. But then again, maybe I would, just to figure out how those who haven't read it came out pleased. Or I'd have to put it this way, how it was written in the book showed Bella and Edward more passionate about each other - a little more intensified than was portrayed. Maybe it's all a case of bad execution I guess, because sometimes the scenes makes me cringe. Argh. I don't know, like I've said, you can't trust my word to give a decent review on this movie.
I know I've been really really bad these days. I've been missing out on a lot of things. No one to blame but Stephenie Meyer. I've been reading like crazy this days! And now that I've finished all four books. I'm still thirsty for more! (uhh...thirsty wasn't the word I would have used if I hadn't been spending too much of my time in the the vampire world.)
I've finished "New Moon" in just 2 days. This may ought to be the most heart-breaking of all the Twilight Saga. I wept real hard that it was still evident the day after.
"Eclipse" also came as a breeze. Another 2 days for that too.
"Breaking Dawn" on the other hand got a lot of set-backs. Not in a bad way though. I finished it in 4 days since there had been A LOT of distractions. But oh, I loved the first few chapters that I kept going back and giggling all the time! Haha A MUST read. It's like my sister had said, "everything is finally falling into place." *sighs* Bitin!
I was hoping on getting my hands on "Midnight Sun" soon, unfortunately it's been put on hold indefinitely! *sobs* Screw those who illegally distributed the manuscript! Click HERE to read about what Stephenie Meyer has to say. Awww...you must read the draft of Midnight Sun! Argh. I want to suck the life out of the person who spread the copies in the net!
It seems to have come out so easy. Yes, I am a self-confessed addict, but probably not in the same light as the ones in rehab. Mine is less detrimental, less destructive.
I'm currently back in my addiction, which I've been trying so hard to avoid. It started this boring Sunday, when the weather was all gloomy. I guess somehow, you'll find yourself giving into the temptation. Never resisting that sinful apple.
I did. I took a bite. And now I'm never the same again.
My current addiction:
I was well aware of the popularity of The Twilight Saga. But retorted to myself that I'm too busy to read a book. Much less a thick one. Now I can't get my eyes off it, and the uncontrollable urge to flip to the next page.
Monday I was with my family in Bonifacio High Street and I found myself sitting in Fully Booked with my daughter, flipping through the pages, laughing and crying. I was done reading it by Tuesday night. That was probably longest that took me to read a book.
No spoilers here. I want you guys to read it, to understand why I instantly fell in love with the book. I'm now halfway through New Moon. Move over Harry Potter, I'm currently loving Edward Cullens.
While for the non-readers, the movie is up, November 12, 2008. Check out the trailer:
